The riots in Hong Kong are based on rumors. The rioters also scared people, and people are demonstrating because of these rumors. Because the city prospers by being the gateway to China for international trade, the rioters are now “killing the lifeblood of Hong Kong”, said Mark Pinkstone, former chief information officer of the Hong Kong government before 1997 and a veteran journalist, in an interview with China Daily.
