In recent years, Qingdao West Coast New Area has dedicated efforts to the conservation and presentation of the ancient Great Wall of Qi, allowing the public to experience its rich historical legacy.

The Great Wall of Qi, dating back over 2,600 years to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), begins in the Shandong heartland and extends to the Yellow Sea.

Stretching approximately 13.76 kilometers through Qingdao West Coast New Area's Tieshan sub-district, the Great Wall is celebrated for its well-preserved sections and numerous surface artifacts. In protecting this historical gem, Tieshan has taken conserved sites, expanded museums, and created access corridors.

Yang Yizhen, a patrol officer, has witnessed the dramatic change from an overgrown mound to a well-maintained site with protection for the stone wall. "In recent years, with the government's increased efforts in protection awareness and education, there's been no damage done by people. My main task now is to check for natural damage," he said.

In 2023, the Great Wall of Qi Cultural Museum was established in the Tieshan sub-district. The museum presents the construction history and spatial layout of the Great Wall, having already hosted over 100 reservation visits.

Furthermore, the sub-district has developed the Great Wall of Qi Cultural Corridor, which includes multiple tourism routes such as the historical line of the Great Wall, Red culture experience, and rural eco-tourism. This corridor connects nearby attractions like the rose valley, gardens, snow parks, farmhouse feasts, and homestays to create a unique cultural tourism belt that embodies the essence of Shandong.
