As I step into the Great Hall of the People in Beijing for my inaugural coverage of China's national two sessions, I feel a blend of excitement and nervous anticipation. As a novice reporter, I'm here to explore how the nation's unwavering pursuit of technology and innovation is reshaping its future — and potentially impacting my own journey in a subtle yet significant manner.

One of the most anticipated topics this year stands as the advancement of China's technological capabilities. With the global tech race intensifying, the common thread is clear: the country is betting big on innovation to drive its next chapter of growth.

From the policy signals released during local two sessions, AI, future industries, and information technology innovation have emerged as the core directions of future technological development.

For example, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province is accelerating industrial upgrading through "the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy", while regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu province have outlined clear plans for future industries, covering cutting-edge fields such as humanoid robotics, quantum technology, and the low-altitude economy.

Remarkably, recent advancements, exemplified by breakthroughs like DeepSeek's AI models, are reshaping the nation's economic and social landscape. AI-powered tools make services such as manufacturing, healthcare, education and retail more efficient and accessible.

These advancements are also creating new markets and consumer behaviors. Businesses integrate AI into everything from cloud services to consumer electronics, driving a new wave of innovation and economic activity. From AI-driven entertainment to electric vehicles, individual Chinese consumers are also embracing tech-enabled lifestyles, which is boosting domestic consumption, a key pillar of China's economic strategy.

Being a first-time reporter at the two sessions is both exhilarating and humbling. Every conversation feels like a revelation, every statistic a puzzle piece in a larger narrative. My focus this year will be on technology. Still, as a reporter, I'm also keen to explore how I can make sense of the complex interplay between cutting-edge technologies like AI and ordinary people's everyday lives.

To date, we have witnessed new tech trends, not as abstract concepts but as tools to solve real-world problems. AI-powered healthcare systems that can diagnose diseases faster and more accurately. Robots that can assist older people or perform dangerous tasks in factories. Cloud computing that could revolutionize industries from logistics to finance. These are not just buzzwords but technologies that could soon touch every aspect of our lives.

However, as I learn about the grand visions, I ask something new: "How will these advancements translate into tangible benefits for the average person? How will a farmer in rural areas or a factory worker experience this technological revolution?"

I also want to delve into the challenges: "How do we ensure that innovation benefits everyone, not just a select few? How do we navigate the challenges of privacy, security, and inequality in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms and automation?"

Moreover, I'm also curious about human stories behind the headlines, such as the scientists pushing the boundaries of what's possible, the policymakers navigating uncharted territory, and the ordinary citizens whose lives are being reshaped by these advancements.

I may not have all the answers in the days ahead, but I'm determined to ask the right questions. In the end, the true measure of the new quality productive forces is not just their technological genius but their ability to improve the lives of the people they are meant to serve.

As I left the venue, the city lights of Beijing twinkled in the distance, a reminder of the countless stories waiting to be told. As a novice reporter, I'm ready to embrace the unknown, one story at a time.
