Cixi yumberries shine at Zhejiang's fruit festival

Yumberries, also known as waxberries or bayberries, strike a refreshing balance between sweetness and tartness. Zhejiang yumberries are renowned across the nation for their exceptional quality.
Cixi, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Yumberries", boasts favorable natural conditions that give rise to the distinctive qualities of Cixi yumberries — juicy, colorful, and sweet — making them a favorite among consumers.
From June 4 to 5, the opening ceremony for the 2025 Zhejiang Local Specialties June Yumberry Season and the Cixi Yumberry Festival was held.
At the ceremony, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released premium yumberry tour routes. Representatives from 37 yumberry-producing areas across the province, along with industry experts and business leaders, gathered to chart a new path for the high-quality development of Zhejiang's yumberry industry.
Dozens of popular domestic and international influencers also made appearances to promote Cixi yumberries and help the fruit reach international markets.
Cixi's yumberry production reached 66,000 tons last year, with an output value exceeding 1 billion yuan ($139.2 million) and brand value surpassing 1.5 billion yuan, both historic highs.
Zhejiang has hosted the June Yumberry Season event for 19 consecutive years, and this year marks the first time the province's yumberry-themed festivities are held in Cixi.
