Luxury hotel launches Central Axis-themed afternoon tea

Located just west of the Beijing Central Axis, JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Central launched on Friday an afternoon tea inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage site, treating guests to a culinary journey through the capital's cultural core.
The afternoon tea set showcases a selection of desserts and snacks designed to immerse guests in the authentic flavors of Beijing. The items are beautifully crafted to resemble landmarks along the axis, such as the Temple of Heaven and the Drum Tower, as well as feature stone drums adorned with lion carvings found in traditional residential buildings. The flavors pay homage to the city's iconic snacks and beverages, including candied hawthorns, pea cakes, and jasmine tea.
Coffee is also a highlight of the menu. Executive Chef Hoo Yau Meng creatively replaced milk with sesame paste, a beloved ingredient among Beijingers, and garnished the iced drink with coriander. It is served in exquisite porcelain tea cups, making for a memorable coffee-drinking experience unique to Beijing.
