Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirms China's support for African countries

Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday held a series of bilateral meetings with senior officials from Africa, reiterating China's commitment to work with African countries to safeguard the common interests of developing nations and uphold international fairness and justice.
The talks took place in Changsha, Hunan province, where the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held on Wednesday.
Wang emphasized that the upcoming meeting will surely enhance the unity of Global South nations during talks with Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya's prime cabinet secretary and cabinet secretary for foreign and diaspora affairs.
China is ready to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with Kenya to jointly uphold the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and the basic norms of international relations, he said.
Mudavadi said that Kenya looks forward to further deepening the mutually beneficial cooperation with China and expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting will be a complete success.
During talks with Senegal's Foreign Minister Yacine Fall, Wang expressed China's readiness to continue sharing the new opportunities from its development with African countries and support them in achieving modernization.
China is willing to strengthen inter-party cooperation and exchanges on governance experience with Senegal, continue to firmly support each other, and safeguard the sovereignty, security, and development interests of both countries, Wang added.
Fall told Wang that Senegal is willing to work with China to jointly uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
In a meeting with Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Wang called for carrying forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Both nations should fully implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and advance high-quality and pragmatic cooperation to support each other's modernization efforts, Wang added.
Kombo said that the friendship between Tanzania and China is solid and profound, and the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries serves as a model, and expressed the hope to further deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
As important members of the Global South, China and Namibia should enhance coordination amid an uncertain and unstable international environment, Wang said during talks with Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibian minister of international relations and trade.
The two nations must work together to overcome disruptions, jointly resist unilateralism and protectionism, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of countries of the Global South, Wang added.
Ashipala-Musavyi said that Namibia will strengthen solidarity with China and other Global South countries to defend multilateralism and uphold international rules and the free trade system.
During talks with Phenyo Butale, minister of International Relations of Botswana, Wang underlined the need for China and Africa to strengthen solidarity, resist unilateral protectionism, and prevent the world from regressing to the law of the jungle.
Wang also reaffirmed China's commitment to working with African countries to advancing the building of the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
Butale expressed the country's willingness to enhance communication and coordination with China, strengthen Africa-China cooperation, and jointly address complex geopolitical challenges.
When meeting with Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio, Wang pledged that China will stand firmly with Global South nations, particularly African countries, to jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system and international fairness and justice.
Antonio said that Angola supports the series of important global initiatives proposed by China and is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China, rectify historical injustices, and uphold fairness and justice.?
