CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao delivers 15 vessels, secures 8 orders

Having delivered 15 vessels and secured orders of eight new ships in the first half of the year, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd has laid a solid foundation for achieving its annual production and operation targets, said the Shanghai-based shipyard.
The 15 vessels delivered have a total deadweight tonnage of 1.40 million dwt, while the eight new ships amount to 1.07 million dwt.
On June 25, the shipbuilder subsequently announced the undocking of a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) with a capacity of 9,000 parking spaces for Italy's Grimaldi Group, as well as an Aframax oil tanker capable of carrying up to 114,000 tons of cargo for Greek company Performance Shipping.
As the builder of China's second domestically made cruise ship, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding completed the construction of the hull structure in Shanghai on Jan 15, two months ahead of schedule compared to the first ship.
On April 28, the vessel took a floating step in the shipyard, marking a milestone in its construction, with delivery expected by the end of 2026.
The huge improvement in construction efficiency has paved way for a large reduction in man-hours of the whole project, said the shipyard.
